The Town of Bruderheim is located on Treaty Six Territory and the homeland of the Métis Nation of Alberta. The Town honours the First Peoples of this land - we recognize that we stand upon land that carries the footsteps of Cree, Métis and Blackfoot, amongst other Nations, who have been here for thousands of years. Therefore, the Town of Bruderheim has an inherent responsibility to foster healthier relationships with First Peoples and further the Calls to Action as outlined by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. |

Honouring Call to Action # 57
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada calls upon federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal governments to provide education to public servants on the history of Aboriginal peoples, including the history and legacy of residential schools, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Aboriginal rights, Indigenous law, and Aboriginal–Crown relations. This will require skills-based training in intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights, and anti-racism.
Bruderheim is committed to honouring Call to Action #57. In November 2021, Bruderheim held a regional Indigenous Cultural Awareness Training session through SevGen Consulting, to begin the learning journey for staff and elected officials.
